  • 1/2 package of Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry (1 full sheet)
  • 8 pieces bacon
  • 1/2 package cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
Topping
  • 1 Teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
Instructions
  1. Follow the directions on the Puff Pastry box for thawing the Puff Pastry Sheet.
  2. While the pastry is thawing, also take the cream cheese out and let it soften to room temp.
  3. While Puff Pastry sheet is thawing (see notes for prepping ahead of time,) on a roasting pan place 8 pieces of bacon in the oven at 400° and bake for 30 minutes until crisp. (Leave oven on if you are baking the twists at the time of making the bacon)
  4. Allow bacon to cool, then chop to very tiny bits.
  5. Add 1/4 cup brown sugar and 3 tbs brown sugar in a bowl and mix evenly.
  6. Add chopped bacon to sugar mixture and combine well.
  7. Once Pastry is thawed, roll to measurement given on box.
  8. Cut pastry in half. Set aside on piece to be used on top of the one the cream cheese will go on.
  9. On the other piece of pastry, spread cream cheese using the back of a large spoon to cover the entire pastry piece.
  10. Sprinkle the bacon/sugar/syrup evenly over cream cheese.
  11. Take the second piece and lay it over the top of the cream cheese piece.
  12. Take the rolling pin and roll the pieces together to seal them.
  13. Using a knife or a pizza cutter cut strips about 1/2 inch thick.
  14. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  15. Pick up a strip of pastry and twist the each end the opposite end until you have a nice twist. (See example in post)
  16. Place each twist 1 inch apart on baking sheet.
  17. Complete all twists and place all on baking sheet.
  18. Mix cinnamon and sugar in a bowl.
  19. Sprinkle sugar evenly over all twists.
  20. Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  21. Serve immediately.
  22. If storing, place in tightly sealed plastic bag or storage container.
Recipe Notes

If you want to make the bacon the night before you can. Just chop bacon as described and place in sealed zip lock bag until ready to add sugar and syrup to it for the recipe.
